MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education honoured 180 students and their teachers in the cognitive development program on the sidelines of the 3rd Oman Science Festival 2022 held at the Ahmed bin Majid Theater in Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
Dr. Jokha bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, CEO of the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education, inaugurated the function by distributing the prizes in the presence of Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary for Education.
The cognitive development program is aimed to improve students scientific and practical skills, encourage them to gain knowledge, raise their academic levels in science subjects, mathematics and geography, activate the scientific and applied aspect in their studies and encourage them to research, survey and organize scientific thinking.

The honoring ceremony began with the screening of a film on the exhibition of student innovations, robotics and artificial intelligence and later an interaction with students and their supervisors was also held.
Dr. Maya bint Saeed Al-Azariah, an educational expert and Director of the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad in the Education ministry, stressed the importance of the role of teachers and parents in enhancing students motivation to participate in such scientific programs, and said: “Our children worked hard and excelled. Of course, we should not forget the roles of their teachers and parents who stood by them and encouraged them.”
Dr Maya said that the Education Ministry is modernizing and developing the programs set by the Knowledge Development Program since 2007 and is progressing at a rapid pace, by introducing qualitative programs and updating existing programs in innovations, scientific Olympiads, robot competitions and artificial intelligence. “As a result, the Sultanate achieved honorable results when our students competed at the regional and international levels in scientific innovation competitions, robotics and artificial intelligence, and national, regional and Olympiads,” Dr Maya said.
