MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, held a press conference yesterday to highlight details of the upcoming youth activity titled ‘Amad Duqm 22’. The 9-day event will be held in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and will feature over 30 activities in various fields – including innovation, technology, sustainability, recreation, culture and sports, with the participation of more 20,000 young Omanis.

Dr Said bin Khalifa al Tueirshi, Director General of Investment Development at OPAZ and head of the supervisory committee of the event, said the event has been planned in a way that it is compatible with the aspirations of the youth through an innovative pattern in the organisation of events. The event comes as an experimental laboratory to explore the aspirations of Omani youth for the future of Oman. The designing and implementation processes will be assigned to a select group of Omani youth to create a vision that combines science, technology, art and entertainment in a modern form.

The activities will be held on a 500,000 square meter area, which will be designed like an integrated residential village. The first season will centre on the themes of innovation, technology, future and entertainment.

The event destination, Duqm, is home to a multitude of opportunities and economic potentials and seeks to become a model in job, housing and lifestyle.
