MUSCAT: Rising dollar rate and expectations that the US Federal Reserve will continue to raise interest rates sharply pushed the precious metal to its lowest in a week. Spot gold prices fell by 1.1% to $1,676.79 an ounce, while US gold futures fell 1.5% to $1683.90 an ounce.
Gold fell for the fourth consecutive day, which is probably the worst performance since mid-August.
As for other precious metals, silver prices fell in spot transactions by 1.9% to $19.72 an ounce, and platinum fell 0.5% to $907.58, while palladium rose by 3.3% to $2253.37.
