MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested 51 infiltrators and foiled four attempts to smuggle large quantities of tobacco into the Sultanate of Oman.
The Incident happened when Coast Guard Police in Dhofar Governorate foiled smuggling attempts and nabbed 51 infiltrators and five smugglers who had large quantities of tobacco in their possession.
The ROP tweeted on Thursday: “Coast Guard Police in Dhofar Governorate were able to thwart four smuggling attempts, during which 51 infiltrators and five smugglers were arrested in possession of large quantities of tobacco and the legal procedures were completed against them.”

In another incident also in Dhofar Governorate, the Coast Guard Police arrested three smugglers of Arab nationality on a boat at sea with 1,216 packages of the drug khat. The legal procedures are being completed against them.
On Monday, also in Dhofar governorate, the fisheries control team while carrying out an inspection operation in the Arabian Sea, adjacent to the wilayat of Shuwaymiyah, arrested 22 migrant workers on board fishing boats, who were fishing profession without a license. The workers were detained in cooperation with the competent authorities and legal procedures were completed.
