MUSCAT: The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken thanked Oman and lauded the efforts of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in securing the release of Baqer Namazi, a dual Iranian-American citizen.
Blinken expressed his appreciation during a phone call with His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.
Namazi arrived in Muscat from Tehran on Wednesday and will be transferred to US safely, state-owned Oman TV reported.

Namazi was imprisoned in February 2016, after traveling to Tehran to secure the release of his son Siamak, an American-Iranian businessman, who had been detained in October 2015.
They were both charged with espionage and collaborating with a foreign government and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
