MUSCAT: The board of directors of Omani Women’s Association (OWA) acknowledged on Wednesday that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has bestowed them with an award and cash prize.

“The honour from His Majesty shows the importance of women’s participation in the development of our country and the support they need to achieve the set goals,” said the resolution passed by the OWA’s council.

OWA’s president Maryam bint Rashid bin Saeed Al-Mushaiqeriya, when contacted, said that they received the award and the financial aid that goes with the honour.

“We will continue to do our role for the betterment of the Omani society and implement of our plans,” Maryam said. “The honour will empower Omani women and encourage us to attain greater heights.”

OWA aims to raise the level of Omani women and integrate them into various developmental fields through Rural Women’s development Centres and work to expand the base of voluntary women’s work, numerically and geographically and has branches in all governorates.
