MUSCAT: The Jordan royal family – King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Al Hussein – who is on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman visited the National Museum on Wednesday.
They were received by Jamal bin Hassan Al-Moussawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum and officials. The King and the accompanying delegation toured the museum and its galleries and were brief by the museum officials on the cultural heritage of the Sultanate including the Hall of the Earth and Man, the Hall of Era, and a Hall before history and antiquity, the Hall of Oman and the world.
The guests were briefed on a number of Jordanian collectibles displayed in the upper gallery of the museum, including 12 Islamic coins dating 70-913 AH (689 – 1507 AD), presented by the late King Hussein bin Talal, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The guests also visited the corner of Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur in the Renaissance Hall and were briefed notably on an architectural mural from inside the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, gifted by King Abdullah II to Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
They also stood on a model of the Dome of the Rock in Al-Aqsa Mosque dedicated by the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1989.
The Jordan ruler also wrote a message in the museum’s VIP register saying: “We at the Omani National Museum are pleased to express our admiration for this great edifice, which reflects the face of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman and its ancient history. The museum highlights in an innovative way the components of the cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman and the civilizations that followed it. Our deep appreciation to those in charge of it and our sincere wishes for continued success and success for the leadership of Oman and its brotherly people for further progress and prosperity.”
King Abdullah II was accompanied to the National Museum by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs who was also the Head of the Honour Mission and Dr. Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, Minister of Education, the Minister accompanying the Queen.
