TEHRAN: An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Iran on Wednesday morning.
The Volcano Discovery website stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a distance of 12 km, east of the city of Khoy in West Azerbaijan Province and at a depth of 10km.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or material losses.

It may be recollected that in July, three earthquakes with magnitudes of more than 6 on the Richter scale hit southern Iran that killed five people and injured dozens.
One of these earthquakes destroyed most of the houses in the village of Sayeh Khosh in Hormozgan province.
