MUSCAT: In commemorating celebrating the annual Omani Women’s Day, Knowledge Oman, the leading-knowledge sharing in the Sultanate, is all set to host a seminar under the theme, “Women: The Pulse of a Sustainable Society”, in recognition of Omani Women and their contribution to the growth of a sustainable Oman. The event is the first live, face-to-face seminar since the organization went online with webinars during the Covid-19 pandemic. The event will take place at Muscat University’s Hall in Al Ghubra north, on Wednesday, the 12th of October at Muscat University at 6:00 p.m. 

The seminar will highlight the important role Omani women play in shaping the Sultanate and contributing to building a prosperous and sustainable society. Omani Women from different fields of expertise that includes entrepreneurship, technology, psychology, legal, sports, and private and public sector will participate in the event. The seminar will celebrate the achievements of the women and acknowledge the challenges faced in shaping them into who they are today. Distinguished panelists and speakers include Dr Lamiya Al Haj (associate professor at Sultan Qaboos University), Dr Amal Ambusaidi (Senior Consultant Psychiatrist), Zuwaina Al Rashdi (CEO at World of Handicrafts), Safiya Al Bahlani (CEO Safiya Arts Gallery), Reem Noor Al Zadjali (founder of Reem Al Zadjali Lawyers and legal consultants ) and Fatma Al Nabhani (Omani tennis player) . The event will be inaugurated by Sayyida Basma Al Said (founder of Whispers of Serenity Clinic)

“On the occasion of the Omani Women’s Day, we at Knowledge Oman are pleased to host this public free event that highlights the important role the Omani women contribute to the development of the economy and how women play an integral role in growth of our beautiful country” said Balqees Al Hassani, the President of Knowledge Oman.

Since its inception in 2008, Knowledge Oman has recognized and highlighted the contributions of women in Oman by giving them important roles through which they may contribute towards the organization and society. The multi-diverse organization has had women from various cultural backgrounds serve as key members. It has recently announced its first female Chairperson, Dr Yasmeen Al Bulushi, who took on the role from the organisation’s Founder, Tariq Hilal Al Barwani. Balqees Al Hassani, the current running president, has led the platform along with other local and expat community of women since 2018.

His Majesty Sultan Qaboos encouraged women to further their studies, increased the number of women serving in various sectors and parliament and set a constitution which recognized men and women as being granted equal rights and protection. His Majesty Sultan Haitham has committed to further this by empowering women to move Oman forward.
