MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police has issued a social media alert to draw attention of the public to fraudulent messages that are circulated with trademarks and logos of official entities and local banks with an intent to swindle money.

The message, stating that the concerned individual’s bank account will be frozen for security reasons is a scam and could lead to misappropriation of funds from the account, the announcement warned. It urged people not to share details of their bank accounts to unknown people or organizations to steer away from being a victim of cyber fraud.
