SHARJAH: The Sultanate of Oman’s National Youth program for Skills Development has won the ‘Best Initiative for Influencing Future Generations’ award in the ‘Best Youth-targeted Government Communication’ category of the 9th Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA).
Kawthar Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, supervisor of the National Youth program, received the award from Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah at a special ceremony held on the concluding day of the 11th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) organised by the International Government Communication Centre (IGCC), a subsidiary of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), at Expo Centre Sharjah on Thursday evening.
“This award reflects the level reached by the National Youth program for Skills Development and its impact on beneficiaries,” Kawthar said in her acceptance speech.

The National Youth program for Skills Development has benefited more than 60,000 men and women, aged between 15 and 29, from all 11 governorates of the Sultanate since its launch in 2018.
It has made a significant difference with its vision to create a community of young Omanis ready to embrace and exploit the opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution for the benefit of Omani society and for future economic prosperity.
The National Youth program sought to qualify the participants on the ethics, skills and knowledge and advanced technologies, harnessing e-learning tools m, in addition to the accompanying activities of workshops and technical competitions, sending participants to the best international universities in the field of technology and enabling them to enter the world of entrepreneurship.
The program was distinguished by its success in covering both technical and know-how using high-tech tools and in both Arabic and English, in cooperation with educational and institutions that top specialized international classifications to provide the latest scientific and practices in the world, and in cooperation with a number of leading Omani institutions.
