MUSCAT: Oman’s budget airline SalamAir has signed an MOU for new aircraft orders with Brazilian planemaker Embraer as part of its expansion plans.
An MOU has been signed between Captain Mohamed Ahmed, CEO of SalamAir and Arjan Meijer, Commercial Aviation President and CEO of Embraer on Thursday. As per the deal, SalamAir will purchase 12 new E195-E2 jets from Embraer, while six jets will be delivered in the first phase.
“Purchase of E2 jets will lower the cost including fuel and it will also help us to increase our domestic and regional routes and other international destinations,” said Captain Mohamed.

“Embraer is looking to deliver the first flight by 2023 if things are in place,” informed Meijer.
