WADI RUM (PETRA in Jordan): The Sultanate of Oman’s women tent picking team won four gold, silver and two bronze medals on the first and two days of the International Women’s Peg Picking Championship here in Jordan, with the participation of 28 contestants representing 14 countries.
Oman’s national team was be represented by Ghanima bint Abdullah Al Shukaili, Turkiya bint Mahmoud Al Balushi and Amal bint Abdullah Al Maskariah.
In the first round of competitions (single spear, double spear) Oman managed to achieve the bronze medal in the team event with a total of 24 points, while South Africa won the team gold ]with 33 points, and Sudan won the silver medal with 31.5 points .

On the second day and the second round for the single sword and double sword events, Oman won gold medal in the team event with 24 points while Ghanima won the silver and Turkiya won the bronze medals respectively.
On the final and third day, today, competitions will be held for shaving a wedge with a spear for the individual and a lemon wedge with a sword also for the individual medal events.
Apart from Oman and hosts Jordan, 28 top riders from 12 other countries including Saudi Arabia, Russia, the UK, Kazakhstan, Norway, South Africa and Pakistan are competing.
