MUSCAT: Embattled Sri Lanka booked a final place in the cricket Asia Cup ‘after posting another exciting win in the last over against India in Dubai on Tuesday night.
India failed to buck the Dubai curse on sides batting first.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka guided Lanka to a six-wicket win against India in their second ‘Super 4’ match. On Sunday India lost to traditional rivals Pakistan and Indians now have one more game against Afghanistan on Thursday.
Lankans chased a target of 174 with one ball to spare. Opener Kusal Mendis top-scored with 57 while his partner Pathum Nissanka and Dasun Shanaka contributed 52 and was unbeaten on 33. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets for 34 runs. Earlier electing to bat first, Rohit Sharma top-scored with a 72 off 41 balls and Suryakumar Yadav struck 34 as India posted 173 for eight. Dilshan Madushanka (3-24), Chamika Karunaratne (2-27) and Dasun Shanaka (2-26) were the main wicket takers.
