MUSCAT: A driving school owner has been sentenced to two months in prison and fined OMR 100 by a local court after he failed to provide proper service to a consumer.
In a statement issued by the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the ruling was issued by the Sohar Court of First Instance.
According to CPA, it received a complaint from a consumer in Sohar in which she stated that she had a contract with a driving school to provide learning but the trainer who was assigned the task had passed away.

“The institution did not provide an alternative and did not return the amount, which is in violation of the text Article 23 in terms of Article 39 of the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. 66/2014,” CPA noted.
Following an investigation, the CPA referred the case to the Public Prosecution for further ruling.
