MUSCAT: The Unified Admission Centre of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, on Wednesday, announced the admission results for the first screening for the academic year 2022-23.

Dr. Hamad bin Khalfan Al-Noamani, Director-General of the Unified Admission Centre, said that the number of students admitted to higher education institutions and internal and external scholarships and scholarships reached 26,170 out of the total number of 27,442 academic opportunities offered for competition.

Al-Noamani pointed out that government higher education institutions absorbed 59.3 per cent of the total admissions.

The percentage of those accepted in internal scholarships and grants was 38.4 per cent of the total accepted applications. The percentage of those accepted in foreign scholarships and grants was 2.3 per cent, noting that the percentage of occupied seats reached 95.4 per cent of the total.

The total number of seats available, and the high percentage of those accepted is due to the intensity of competition. 

This is because of the high final rates of successful applicants in the unified admission system, 4.6 per cent of the academic seats were vacant due to the insufficient number of students who met the admission requirements.

Al-Noamani explained that the completion of the registration procedures for accepted students will be available from 2:30 PM on Thursday, August 18 till Wednesday, August 24.

This is an important step that accepted students must take during the specified period to ensure that the academic seat is fixed, and the Unified Admission Centre has published on its website.

The centre will be providing a mis-selection service on September 4 for students who wish to compete for vacant seats.

The Director General of the Unified Admission Centre has stressed that students must follow up on the vital developments and announcements.
