MUSCAT: A furniture company employee has been sentenced to 10 days in prison for unfairly serving a customer in Salalah.

The ruling issued by the Court of First Instance in Salalah also includes a fine of OMR 200 and compensation of OMR 400 for the consumer after the furniture shop failed to provide services as per agreed terms.

“The Consumer Protection Department in Salalah received a complaint from a consumer against a furniture establishment, in which he reported that he had agreed with the official to set up chairs and curtains at a value of OMR 1,100 and paid an advance amount of OMR 400, provided that the full service would be completed and delivered according to the agreed period. However, the employee failed to meet the delivery time which is in violation of Article (23) of the Consumer Protection Law.”
