MUSCAT: The University of Nizwa, in cooperation with NASA, recently launched a research project related to the study of air pollution risks.
The project, titled Aerosols in the Middle East, is funded by the Competency-Based Institutional Funding Program of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.
“The main objective of the research project is to study the pollution caused by aerosols. This can be done via satellites, local monitoring stations and laboratory, which can be analysed to measure the harmful particles in the atmosphere.”

“This would help the decision makers to review policies that not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but improve air quality and environmental health in the Middle East,” said Dr. Issa bin Sulaiman Al Ameri, Dean of the College of Sciences and Arts at the University of Nizwa.
