MUSCAT: Bank Muscat has warned consumers to be on their guard against scam messages being sent via Whatsapp. A WhatsApp message that is being circulated among Bank Muscat customers stating that their card is blocked is fake and a scam, the bank has warned.
Bank Muscat has advised people not to succumb to fraudulent messages being circulated to its customers.
According to the WhatsApp message, if the card needs to work properly, then the user needs to contact the given number immediately. “Dear customer, your ATM card has been blocked. Because you did not have an update yet. If you want your ATM card to work properly, then contact this number,” the fake message reads.

However, Bank Muscat has confirmed that this circulated WhatsApp message is indeed fake and have asked card holders to totally ignore such messages and do not disclose their personal information. “Dear followers, we would like to report that these messages and advertisements are fraudulent and are not issued by the Bank. Please be careful not to disclose any personal information,” the statement added.
