MUSCAT: Foreign investment in the Sultanate has shown a rapid increase in 2020, the 15th edition of the statistical bulletin by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) revealed.
Compared to OMR 20.98 billion over the same period in 2019, the total FDI increased by 6% to OMR 22.244 billion by the end of 2020.
According to the NCSI statistical bulletin, the cashflows from foreign investments increased by 24.5% to OMR 1.261 billion at the end of 2020 compared to 2019.

At the end of 2020, the oil and gas production sector had attracted OMR 11.174 billion in foreign investments, up 50.2% from the same period in 2019.
The financial sector came in second with a total investment of OMR 6.6 billion, up 27% from the same time last year, and the manufacturing sector came in third with a total investment of OMR 2.013 billion.
At the end of 2020, the UK led the list of foreign direct investments made in the Sultanate with a total investment of OMR 7.112 billion. The USA came in second with OMR 2.045 billion, while the UAE came in third with OMR 998.3 million.
