MUSCAT: Several mishaps have occurred leading to the deaths of adults and children due to the flash floods and extreme weather conditions in the Sultanate.
The unfortunate incidents which occurred from July 7 to July 12 have resulted in the deaths of over a dozen people, including children and expats, in Oman.
On July 7, a person belonging to Asian nationality went missing in a village in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and was later found dead in a valley in Wilayat Al Hamra. One the same day, two children drowned in Wadi Sahtan stream, another child drowned in Wadi Bani Awf. In an unrelated incident on the same day, a citizen died after falling into a well in Wilayat Adam.

On July 8, two citizens died after their vehicle drifted in Wadi Ahin stream in Sohar.
The following day, a 17-year-old young adult drowned in Wadi Al Hoqain stream. Two more individuals belonging to a family of eight died from falling into the sea after they crossed the fence at Al Mughsayl Beach. The same day, another person drowned in the sea at Al Sawadi Beach.
On July 11, a child, part of a group of six, drowned in a pool in Wadi Andam stream. The very same day, the water rescue team was able to recover bodies of two expats who drowned in Wadi Al Arabiyin, Wilayat of Quriyat.
The authorities have been constantly taking measures to avoid any loss of live amidst the extreme weather conditions in the Sultanate.
