MUSCAT: With Eid Al Adha upon us, the joyous and celebratory spirit has engulfed everyone in Oman, especially this year. Why did you ask? Making a comeback after almost two years, this spirited occasion was sorely missed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions that came along with it.
Most people are looking forward to celebrating Eid al-Adha in a more laid-back setting now that all precautionary measures have been withdrawn, in contrast to the previous Eid al-Adha holidays when everyone stayed indoors because of a complete lockdown.
The country was placed under a three-day, round-the-clock lockdown last year after the Supreme Committee issued an order prohibiting all commercial activity as well as human and vehicular mobility.

In stark contrast to the previous year, from children to adults, everyone in Oman flocked to the traditional souqs or daylight market places peculiar to their respective governorates this year.
Children especially enjoy the Habta because they get to pick out games, clothes, delicious Halwa and confections. The occasion imparts a broad view of Omani customs and practices passed down from generations of their ancestors.
Taking it forward, Muscat Municipality will also be organising an event at Al-Naseem Public Park for 11 days starting from July 10, 2022. Don’t miss out on the wonderful opportunity to step out and be a part of the Eid Joy event. The celebration will include theatre, concerts, plays, contests, Ayyood corner and shopping. What’s more? The event will also include cafes and vending carts, electric games, fun games and folk songs.
Caution amidst celebration
During the upcoming days of Eid Al Adha, Oman’s Ministry of Health has urged residents and citizens to follow health precautions. In order to safeguard themselves and their neighbours from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the ministry has urged residents to exercise caution.
