MUSCAT: Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations, His Excellency Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, said that an Omani coffee pot adorns a corridor in the United Nations.
His Excellency explained that this artefact was given to the international organisation in 1973 on the occasion of the three-year anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan assuming power in the Sultanate.
A phrase carved on the artefact reads, “The gift from the Sultanate of Oman, a model of the Omani dallah was presented on September 1973 on the occasion of the third year of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s accession to rule in Oman.”
The United Nations is an international organisation founded in 1945, consisting of 193 member states. The organisation is concerned with cooperation in the fields of international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achieving world peace.
