MUSCAT: Oman secured a place in the finals by winning the day’s two races and topped the overall ranking of Qualifying Series Round 4 of SSL Gold Cup. The fourth round of the competition was held in Lake Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
SSL Team Oman capped an aggressive display with a priceless win to keep their qualification hopes alive. Forced to settle for the second place, Cuba moved top of the table ahead of the final race. Mexico took advantage of Guatemala’s error to finish 3rd, the SSL Gold Cup website reported.
The SSL Gold Cup 2022 started on May 19th with the Qualifying Series in Grandson, Lake Neuchatel (Switzerland). All teams ranked from the Top 25 to 56 in the SSL Nations Ranking (based on January 2022 standings) will meet in eight groups of four teams each. There are five stages, or rounds, until July 17th.

Only the top two teams of each group will go through to the Final Series that will take place from October 28th to November 20th, 2022, in Bahrain.
Musab Al Hadi, SSL Team Oman, Helm said, “As I told you before, the racing hasn’t ended until we get a first, and we get the firsts today – two bullets man. This is a big job for my crew, well done to the crew, because they have done their job very well. So this is a time to go to Bahrain I think!!”
The Oman team includes 11 sailors — captain of the team and veteran sailor Nasser Al Mashari, along with the sailors Ahmed Al-Balushi, Ahmed Al Hasani, Abdul Rahman Al Mashari, Ali Al Balushi, Musab Al Hadi, Waleed Al Kindi, Raad Al Hadi, Haitham Al Wahaibi, Hussain Al Jabri and Akram Al Wahaibi. The team was also accompanied by the technical and administrative staff.
