MUSCAT: Many parts of Oman will receive heavy rainfall including thunderstorms in the next three days, the Meteorology department said on Saturday.
In a statement issued, Oman Met said: “The latest weather maps and analyzes of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that the Sultanate might be affected this week by extensions of low pressure system advected from India. Here are the details of this forecast by days: Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“Continuation of the alert of chances of thunderstorms with varying intensity of rainfall on the western and eastern Al Hajar mountain, specifically on the mountainous areas located in the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah, and the impact is expected to extend to include the plains and deserts of Al Dhahirah Governorate, Al Dakhiliyah and North Al Sharqiyah.

“Tuesday and Wednesday: The alert also will continue on the Al Hajar Mountains and the mountainous areas located in the above-mentioned governorates. Also, due to the extension of the low pressure system coming from the arabian sea, advected clouds with isolated rain will start to affect governorates of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta and parts of the governorates of Muscat and North Al Sharqiyah, and the amount of these rains ranges between 15-40 millimeter,” the statement added.
