MUSCAT: NMC Healthcare Oman has announced that both NMC Specialty Hospitals – Ghoubra and Al Hail have officially received accreditation from Joint Commission International (JCI) – the Gold standard recognition in the healthcare sector for best practices in quality and patient safety. The JCI accreditation reiterates NMC’s constant endeavour to provide the patients with the highest quality of care and to ensure patient safety in each aspect.
What is JCI ?
JCI is the international arm of the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), USA. It is one of the oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting bodies in healthcare that evaluates more than 20,000 organizations and inspires them to excel in providing safe and effective care.

The JCI standards focus on areas that directly impact patient care such as patient experience and feedback, infection control, patient and family rights and patient awareness initiatives.
What is the impact of JCI ?
To be accredited, the hospital is evaluated on more than 1200 standard elements in areas like medical expertise, staff qualifications, efforts to improve the quality of services, facilities management and safety and organizational leadership. This not only offers the hospital its own health report but also helps the hospital to come to the same level of healthcare delivery as the hospitals in the western countries are.
Speaking on JCI accreditation, Dr Deep Makkar, Group General Manager, NMC Healthcare Oman said, “NMC Healthcare had commenced operations five years back in Muscat; and within this short span of time, we are one of the most recognized and sought-after healthcare providers in Muscat, serving patients across the nationalities. We have always focused on advanced technology and international standards of clinical care combined with the highest levels of quality.”
A team effort
Congratulating the team, Dr Deep continued “Patients are the centre of everything that we do and their safety & comfort is our number one priority making us a preferred healthcare services provider to the community. All medical programs offered by us are underpinned by an uncompromising belief and practice of ethics, strict clinical governance, and excellence.
