MUSCAT: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth signed an agreement with Sabco Sports to become a strategic partner for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon. 

The agreement was signed by Muhammad Ahmed Al-Amri, Director General of Sports Activities in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and Ali Sulaiman Al-Ajmi, Acting General Manager of Sabco Sports. Through this agreement, the Ministry will support the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon in its mission to encourage a healthy and an active lifestyle, which is in line with the Oman 2040 vision of building a sustainable and healthy society in which the culture of “health is everyone’s responsibility” is rooted. 

The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is on course to be the biggest international running event in Oman. Registrations are open for the two-day festival of running, which takes place on November 11th & 12th at Oman’s premium lifestyle destination, Al Mouj Muscat. The event has become a symbol of pride and prestige for the country and contributes to its global recognition.

Ali Sulaiman Al-Ajmi, Acting General Manager of Sabco Sports, said after signing the agreement, “We are pleased to have the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as a strategic partner for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon, as they will have a major role in the success of the event in order to achieve its planned sports, economic, tourism and health goals. Their partnership with this event is invaluable. This year, Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is anticipated to witness a huge number of local as well as international participants. We are working hard to provide a bold, unique and unforgettable experience, in cooperation with the Oman Athletics Association as well.

The highly anticipated Al Mouj Muscat Marathon features five different race distances to cater to a variety of fitness levels and experiences. The 42km marathon and 21.2km half-marathon and 10km runs are certified by the world-running organization AIMS, aligning the event with International Association of Athletic Federation (IAAF) standards and adding to competitive runners’ rankings. There is also a 5km run and Kids’ Run of 1km, 2km and 3km open to young runners aged 7-12 years old. The kids’ category races are already sold out, leaving a very limited number of slots available for the 5 km and above categories. All competitors who cross the finish line will receive medals, in addition to event t-shirts.
