MUSCAT: An expatriate worker was imposed with an administrative fine of OMR 1,000 on charges of trading and storing large quantities of chewing tobacco products in Wilayat Sur in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

In a statement issued, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the accused had plans to sell the tobacco.

“The Department of Consumer Protection in Sur imposes an administrative fine of OMR 1,000 against an expatriate worker who was trading and storing quantities of chewing tobacco with intentions to sell, which is in violation of Resolution No. 256/2015 amended by Resolution No. (301/2016) of banning the circulation of chewing tobacco,” CPA said in the statement.
