MUSCAT: The Khareef season has made its entry in the Governorate of Dhofar, which means that the breathtaking tropical weather and pleasant temperatures are here to stay for a couple of months.

With the onset of the Khareef season, Dhofar will be witnessing a spurt in visitors and tourists from within and outside of Oman until September 21, 2022.

The coastal wilayats in the Dhofar Governorate, mainly from the Wilayat of Dhalkut in the west to the Wilayat of Mirbat in the east, will reflect the effects of the Khareef season. This would mean that monsoon winds and the flow of clouds coming from the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean will be expected during this period.

This season is usually cloudy and experiences rains due to the density of clouds. The temperature drops to less than 30 degree Celsius in Salalah. The mountainous terrain in the region is enveloped in fog with occasional light showers.
