His Majesty reshuffles cabinet

His Majesty Sultan Haitham ordered a Cabinet reshuffle in a royal decree.

MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik on Thursday appointed three new ministers in a cabinet reshuffle announced on state television. 

In a Royal Decree, His Majesty replaced the long-serving oil minister Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhi with His Excellency Salem Al Aufi. Al Rumhi was the oil minister for over two decades. His Majesty also replaced veteran health minister Dr. Ahmed Al Said with Dr. Hilal Al Sabti, while Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Salmi who served the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs as minister for 25 years was replaced with Dr. Mohammed Al Maamari. 

Aufi, whose appointment was the most notable change in the cabinet reshuffle, was previously undersecretary at the energy and minerals ministry.  

His Majesty also appointed Ghosn bin Hilal Al Alawi as the new head of the State Audit Institution responsible for protecting public funds, safeguarding state properties and preventing conflict.
