MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik on Thursday appointed Dr. Mohammed Bin Said Al Maamari as the country’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA).
In a major cabinet reshuffle, His Majesty also replaced the Minister of Energy and Minerals and Minister of Health.
Al Maamari, who was the Undersecretary of MERA, will succeed the long-serving Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Salmi, as the new Minister.

Al Maamari who studied in the UK and Germany worked as a Scientific Advisor at MERA before he was appointed as Undersecretary at the ministry.
