MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania signed at Al Bustan Palace Hotel here today several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in the presence of President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The MoUs cover fields of energy, tourism, natural resources, higher education, training and national museums.

A trilateral MoU was also signed between Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and Zanzibar National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).

A memorandum was also signed between Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA).

MoUs were also signed between Oman Airports Management Company and Kilimanjaro International Airport, and between Oman Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) and the Association of Tanzania Oil and Gas Service Providers (ATOGS), and between Al Bashayer Meat company and the National Company for Live Animals and between Oman Food Investment Holding Company (OFIC) and the Tanzanian Horticultural Association.

Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister told Oman News Agency (ONA) that an investment fund between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania was established. The fund will invest in projects of value to the two countries in various fields, including agriculture, fishing and mining.

Sayyid Badr forecasts trade exchange between the two countries will increase, especially after Oman and Tanzania signed today several memoranda of understanding, in addition to existing agreements between Oman Investment Authority (OIA) and the Tanzanian authority concerned.

He added that the two countries will later on sign MoUs in various economic, investment, energy and tourism fields with a work programme set for those agreements.

The signing ceremony was attended by some Omani and Tanzanian officials.
