MUSCAT: Continuing its efforts in the direction of having more electricity generation capacity through renewable resources, Oman is now planning to invest $300 million in wind energy projects, a top official has informed.
Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWPC) will invest in wind energy projects in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate and in Wilayat Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate. “Our aim is to implement a number of projects in renewable energy and water,” said Eng. Yaqoub bin Saif Al Kiyumi, CEO of OPWPC.
According to Al Kiyumi, the company is also planning to attract investments of more than OMR 480 million that will help to implement a number of projects in renewable energy and water.

OPWPC has already met officials from the private sector to build two desalination plants in Muscat and Barka, with an investment estimated at about $350 million.
