MUSCAT: More than 500 drowning accidents registered in Oman in 2021, compared to 362 drowning accidents in 2020, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) said on Wednesday.

In a statement issued, CDAA said the most important causes that lead to drowning accidents are: “not being able to swim, swimming in unspecified places such as ponds, dams, water channels and dangerous water gatherings.”

“Swimming requires caution and should not be carried out in undesignated sites,” CDAA added.
