MUSCAT: More than OMR 450,000 are paid to over 5,000 beneficiaries as part of social security in Dhofar governorate, Ministry of Social Development (MOSD) said on Sunday.
“The number of social security cases in the Governorate of Dhofar until the end of April of this year reached 5071, while the amounts paid to them per month amounted to about OMR 457,721,” the Ministry said.
Muhammad bin Humaid Al Kalbani, Director-General of the General Directorate of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar, said in a statement to the Oman News Agency that the total number of social research and studies during the first quarter of this year reached 2,994, including 92 percent for social security cases. “More than 57 emergency aid was provided. OMR 1,000 were distributed to 502 cases supervised by the Directorate,” he said.

He added that the total aid provided through the social development committees in the wilayats of the Dhofar Governorate amounted to more than OMR 258,000 to 6,828 beneficiary families, while the total number of people enrolled in the Wafa centers for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities was 347 people, of whom 69% are rehabilitated in the Center for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
Al-Kalbani pointed out that during the first quarter of this year, 50 medical devices and aids were distributed that varied between medical beds, wheelchairs and respirators, and 7 citizens of social security cases and people with limited income were employed in coordination with the competent authorities, in addition to providing social services to 132 elderly.
