MUSCAT: OQ Group, on Thursday, signed an agreement for the joint development of the Oman hydrogen project with American company Air Products and Saudi company ACWA Power.
The aim was to establish a plant for the production of ammonia using green hydrogen in the Sultanate of Oman which depends on renewable energy sources.
The signing of the agreement comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Okio Group to develop alternative energy sources and take advantage of the natural resources that the Sultanate of Oman is rich in.

The agreement also aids in enhancing the efforts made by the government to attract investments in implementation of the Oman Vision 2040.
The agreement was signed by Mulhim bin Bashir Al-Jarf, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OQ Group, from ACWA Power, it was Mohammed Abdullah Abunayan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, and on behalf of Air Products, it was Saifi Qassimi, Chairman and CEO.
The participating parties would be establishing a joint investment project in the Salalah Free Zone and provide it with the latest technologies recognised in this field.
It would also provide the innovative integration of renewable energy from solar and wind energy, storage and hydrogen production using the electrolysis process, nitrogen production through air separation and green ammonia production.
