MUSCAT: Oman on Tuesday confirmed that there are no cases of monkeypox registered in the country.
In a statement issued, the Ministry of Health said: “The Sultanate confirms that no suspected or confirmed case of monkeypox has been detected.”
“MOH urges citizens and residents to take the necessary precautionary measures to prevent transmission of the disease through avoiding direct contact to any person with respiratory systems or skin rash particularly those coming from countries with registered cases.”

“Furthermore the ministry calls upon all to wearing masks and maintaining hand hygiene by using water and soap or applying certified sanitisers,”the statement said.
The Ministry of Health also emphasized the necessity of taking the information from official sources and “pay no attention to rumours and false information,” the statement added.
More cases of a rare disease have been reported worldwide. As of Saturday, 92 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases of monkeypox were under investigation in 12 countries, the World Health Organisation said.
