Iranian President’s visit to Oman is “strategically important”

MUSCAT: Iranian Vice President has described the scheduled visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the Sultanate of Oman as “strategically important” and is in line with Iran’s “good neighbour” policy.

The Iranian Vice President has stressed that the Sultanate of Oman is one of the countries that have long-term and friendly relations with Iran.


He pointed out that in recent months, many meetings were held between the two countries, including a special joint economic committee consisting of high-ranking officials from Tehran and Muscat.


The Iranian leader also added that after these agreements, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi paid a visit to Iran, showing the excellent relations between the two countries. The two sides showed keen interest in addressing bilateral and regional issues.


He stated that reducing tensions in the region and issues such as the Yemen war, are among the issues being discussed between the two countries.


Emphasis was laid on the expansion of political and economic relations between Tehran and Muscat, Iranian Vice President said. He further said that the development of cultural relations is also on the agenda, because there are many cultural commonalities between the two countries.

According to a report published by Amwaj Media website, sources in Tehran have said that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to the Sultanate of Oman will be early next week.
