MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik on Sunday issues three Royal Decrees.
The first stipulated military promotions and appointments in the Royal Office. His Majesty issued a Royal Decree by appointing Major General Nasser bin Saleh bin Saud Al Maawali as Secretary General of Communications and Coordination, while Brigadier General Idris bin Abdul Rahman bin Hammoud Al Kindi has been promoted to the rank of major general and appointed him as Secretary General of the National Security Council.
The second decree decreed the establishment of an academy called the “Academy of Strategic and Defense Studies” to be located in the Governorate of Muscat. A decision by the Academy’s Board of Trustees may establish branches for it in other governorates. “All allocations, assets, rights, obligations, and assets of the National Defense College, the Joint Command and Staff College, and the Center for Strategic and Defense Studies shall devolve to it,” the decree said.

The decree also stipulated transferring employees of National Defence College, the college of Joint Command and Staff and the Center for Strategic and Defense Studies to the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies with the same job statuses and financial allocations.
The third Royal Decree appointed Major General Saleh bin Yahya bin Masoud al-Maskari, as President of the Academy of Strategic and Defense Studies, and promoted Brigadier General Hamed bin Ahmed bin Saeed Sakron to the rank of major general and appointed as a commander of the National Defence College.
