MUSCAT: Playing a brand new avatar in an intense political drama, popular Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly will be essaying the role of Moidu, a Mattancherry-based port labourer in Thuramukham.
Directed by famed filmmaker Rajeev Ravi, Thuramukham takes us back to a time when Mattanchery fishermen rebelled against the feudal employment system known as Chappa. The incredibly exciting 1 minute-long teaser begins with a series of captivating visuals set against a scene of workers’ bellowing slogans.
Pauly fans are ecstatic with this forthcoming film which portrays the actor in a fearless and dynamic role of a leader of the downtrodden. It’s not just Pauly’s presence that has created the buzz but also director Ravi’s comeback after a five-year-long hiatus since he was revered for the success of Kammatipaadam featuring Dulquer Salman.

The first-look poster, unveiled in January 2022, was well received by Malayalam cine-goers.
Thuramukham is scripted by Gopan Chidambaram and also features Sudev Nair as the lead antagonist. The Malayalam movie industry’s finest talents including Poornima Indrajith, Arjun Ashokan, Darshana Rajendran, Manikandan R Achari, will be featured in supporting roles.
The Rajeev Ravi directorial was initially slated to hit the silver screens on January 20. But after being rescheduled multiple times, the film is finally set to release on June 3. Minutes after posting this update on Instagram along with a quote by Martin Luther King – “All Labour that uplifts humanity has dignity” – Pauly’s post was soon flooded with comments from fans.
