MUSCAT: For the first time in two-years, Oman witnessed the most vibrant Eid Al Fitr celebrations, thanks to the declining coronavirus cases and relaxed restrictions in the country.
Eid Al Fitr celebrations kicked off early on Monday morning as hundreds of worshippers offered the Eid prayer at mosques and prayer grounds across the country. His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik offered the Eid prayer at the iconic Zulfi Mosque in Seeb along with top officials.
The return of the Eid tradition after two-years of Covid, has caused great excitement for people in the country. Meanwhile, shopping centres witnessed huge rush on the even of Eid on Sunday.

“This Eid is very special for us. We are celebrating after two years due to pandemic restrictions. The best part is that we can meet our dear ones and celebrate this Eid with them,” said Hisham Al Mamari from Seeb.
“It’s a very special at the same time an emotional Eid for all of us. It’s also a sign that we are getting slowly back to normal. I am seeing the happiness among my people now,” said Mohammed Al Balushi from Muscat.
People in the country are also enjoying the week-long Eid holiday until May 7. “It will give us more time to be with family,” said Ajay Kumar Biswas, an Indian expat living in Azaiba.
Royal Oman Police have stepped up patrols to facilitate the flow of vehicles around busy venues, while authorities have urged the public to enjoy Eid safely, while adhering to the latest Covid-19 regulations.
