Oman participates in international cruise ships, yacht exhibition

There is a great demand from international companies managing cruise ships to visit Oman ports as it is a unique addition to cruises in this region.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism of Oman has been an active participant in the SeaTrade Cruise Global exhibition being held in Miami from April 25 to 28.

Attending the international exhibition is a part of Oman’s marketing plan for the cruise ships and yachts sector. The Omani delegation includes a number of representatives of Omani companies related to this sector.

The Ministry oversees the organisation of the tourism sector, international ships in cooperation with partners and relevant government and private agencies, as well as shipping and tourism agents.

This exhibition is one of the most important and largest specialised exhibitions in the world which sees active participation of representatives of governments and companies working in the cruise ship sector. Also present at the exhibition are media professionals, researchers and those interested in this field from different countries of the world.

Oman’s participation this year will strengthen relations with international companies managing cruise ships in conjunction with the return of the tourism movement to recover from the effects of the pandemic and also aid discussion about opportunities for cooperation with new operators in this field.

A visit to the port designated for cruise ships in the Port of Miami to see the facilities and services in the port and to meet with officials of some companies operating international cruise ships.

It is important to promote the Sultanate of Oman as one of the prominent destinations regionally and globally by attracting these companies to dock in the various ports of Oman. It’ll also benefit from the presence of tourists, thus maximising the benefit of the local community by contributing to providing job opportunities.

During the 2018-19 season, the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase in the number of visitors travelling via cruise ships by more than 45% i.e 283,000 visitors, compared to the 2017-2018 season, which saw 193,000 travellers.

The Sultanate of Oman has seen a growth in the number of cruise ships and luxury yachts at its shores as a result of the sector’s recovery globally. There is a great demand from international companies managing cruise ships to visit Oman as it represents a unique addition to cruises in the region.
