Workshop on dangers of Aedes aegypti mosquito held in Oman

The workshop also highlighted the importance of community partnership and implementing mechanisms to combat disease transmission.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate of Disease Control and Control, on Monday, April 25, organised a health workshop on the dangers of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, how to combat it and methods of prevention.

The workshop was held in the lecture hall of the Wali of Al-Seeb’s office.

Dr. Manal bint Saeed Al Dhankiyah, a family medicine consultant and head of the media committee at the General Directorate of Health Services in the Governorate of Muscat said, “This workshop aims to involve the community and introduce it to ways to prevent Aedes mosquitoes, pointing out that the episode targets health committees in the governorates of Muscat and civil society associations.”

The workshop included the presentation of three visual presentations that dealt with the life cycle of the mosquito, the methods of disease transmission, methods of combating it and controlling the diseases it transmits. Additionally, the workshop also highlighted the importance of community partnership and its implementation mechanism to combat Aedes aegypti mosquito.
