WASHINGTON DC: The US State Department has emphasised that the Sultanate of Oman has played an important role in ensuring regional stability in a region that presents some of the most pressing challenges to the national security of the United States.
“We will seek to strengthen our long-term and multifaceted cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman to advance the strategic interests of the United States,” the department said in a new report published on its website.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s focus on economic development and regional stability provides new opportunities for participation and cooperation between the two countries, where the common goals are to strengthen economic partnership, enhance regional stability, resolve regional conflicts, and expand security cooperation, the department said.

According to its reported, during the reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Oman government has strengthened the long-standing bilateral security cooperation with the United States.
“We will continue to work with Oman to advance the political process in Yemen to end the conflict peacefully, manage threats in the region, promote the United States as a reliable partner in investment and technology, and identify and remove trade barriers, as Omani and American companies benefit fully from the free trade agreement between the two countries,” the department stated.
The report also affirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting the Oman government’s efforts to achieve sustainable economic growth, as the country faces the challenge of balancing economic reforms and public expectations for government services and benefits.
The US administration will be encouraging sustainable economic development and diversification in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the government’s climate change goals.
The volume of bilateral trade between the United States and the Sultanate of Oman exceeded $3.2 billion in 2021, which reflects the advantages of the free trade agreement, and business potential in the Sultanate of Oman.
The department has affirmed its support for the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and a friendly business environment, by promoting trade and investment under the Free Trade Agreement, and encouraging Omani companies to invest in the United States.
