MUSCAT: The much-awaited Ramadan Tape ball Tournament kickstarted with a thrilling match played between PSM Seniors and Pakistan Embassy teams.

Before the start of the match, a glittering opening ceremony was held in which Mian Mohammad Riaz, the owner of Mian Mohammad Riaz & Partners and the Chief Guest, cut the ribbon and played a ball bowled by Ameer Hamza, Chairman PSM Board of Governors. Madam Kiran Akbar, Head of the Chancery Embassy of Pakistan also played a ball to declare to officially open the event in front of a sizeable crowd at PSM ground.

PSM Seniors won the toss and invited the Pakistan Embassy to bat first, the decision seemed to be wrong as Pak Embassy openers Ati r ur Rehman and Hanif got a splendid start of 108 runs between them before the fall of Atiq, who scored a blistering in 21 balls with 5×6, 4×4. While Hanif scored 35 with the help of 5×6 and 1×4 with a total of 139 runs in allotted overs

Amir Hamza of PSM Seniors bowled superbly with 4 wickets for just 17 runs in 4 overs. Chasing a big total, PSM Seniors were losing wickets in intervals and the match seems to be going in favour of the Pakistan Embassy but Amir Massod and Dr Mukhtar scored 34 runs and 25 runs respectively, briskly followed by Yamin who got 23 and Abdul Qauyum sealed the victory for PSM in the penultimate over. Allah Ditta of the Pakistan Embassy team got 3 wickets in 3 overs for just 19 runs but it was too late for them.

Later on, Amir Hamza was declared the man of the match for his 4 wickets for 17 runs, and a special batting prize was given to Mr Atiq ur Rehman of Pakistan Embassy by Ms Kiran Akbar, HOC Pak Embassy. A huge crowd of about 400 witnessed this event.
