MUSCAT: In what could be a huge relief for hundreds of Indian students in Oman, the Ministry of Education in New Delhi has allotted a NEET (UG) centre in Muscat for the first time.
Earlier, NEET-UG aspirants used to travel to neighboring UAE or India to attempt the medical entrance test. In 2021, over 500 candidates in Oman had registered for the examination. In July 2021, representatives of Indian parents’ group of NEET aspirants in Oman wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting for a centre in Oman as there are 21 Indian schools in the country.
On Thursday, the Indian Embassy in Muscat welcomed the news announcing Oman as one of the centres for NEET. “Embassy is happy to note that Muscat, Oman has now been added to the list of approved centres for the NEET exam. This will bring smiles to the faces of NEET aspirants from Oman. We thank the Ministry of Education and wish all the best to the students,” the Embassy said.
