Some worshipers not following Supreme Committee rules in Oman mosques: MERA

Supreme Committee has issued decisions to be followed in mosques during the holy month of Ramadan.

MUSCAT: Some worshipers are not following the procedures issued by the Supreme Committee during Taraweeh prayers in mosques in Oman, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) observed.

In a circular issued, MERA said it had notice that some worshipers did not adhere to the procedures.

“MERA calls upon worshipers in mosques to adhere to the decisions of the Supreme Committee in order to achieve the public interest and to preserve the safety of citizens and residents on this blessed land.”

Following are the regulations issued by the Supreme Committee to be followed for prayers in mosques during Ramadan.

  1. Attendance at congregational prayers, including Taraweeh prayers are allowed only to the vaccinated and children above the age of 12.
  2. Ban on charitable collective Iftar tables at mosques and other public places.
  3. Preventive measures, such as wearing face masks, and physical distancing in closed places, including mosques.
