Over 47% in Oman satisfied with prices of mobile internet services: Survey

The survey also showed an inverse relationship between age groups and the contentment with most service quality indicators.

MUSCAT: The National Center for Statistics and Information conducted a survey to analyse the satisfaction experienced by users of mobile telecommunication services.

According to the data revealed from the survey, men are more happier than females with the quality of their service provider, while those under 30 years are less satisfied with the quality of service.

In terms of service quality, the governorates of Muscat and Dhofar topped the list for providing quality of service with a rate of up to 71% for each governorate. The lowest satisfaction rate was recorded in Al Dhahirah Governorate at 60%.

Satisfaction rates with the quality provided by the operator are generally higher among the age groups of 30 years and above, compared to the age group of 18-29 years. The rate of satisfaction amongst youngsters is about 57.6%, this percentage increases among the age group of 30-49 years at 69.8%, and 72.5% among those older than 50 years.

With regard to prices, those happy with the prices of mobile Internet services was 47.3%, while those happy with the prices of voice communications was 51.6%, and (49.9% of the sample size believe that the prices of mobile phone packages are unsatisfactory.

Males were relatively happier with the rates compared to females in most of the indicators of satisfaction with the quality of services or prices. These include the general index of service quality, the quality of network coverage most of the time, network speed, connection quality, internet speed in mobile phones, and prices of internet services, prices for voice communication service, and prices for mobile phone packages.

The survey also showed an inverse relationship between age groups and the contentment in most service quality indicators. The aforementioned survey, which was conducted from June 13 to 24, 2021, included 2,638 citizens and residents in the age group of 18 years and above.
