Artistes to be honoured in Oman

The winners of the online stage play contest titled BHAVALAYAM-2021, will be feted at the event which will be graced by Amit Narang, the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.

MUSCAT : Bhavalaya, a Global platform for art enthusiasts, will be honoring dramatists and other local art enthusiasts at a ceremony named ‘Bhavalayam 2021’, to be held at the Oman Women’s Association on Thursday.

The winners of the online stage play contest titled BHAVALAYAM-2021, will be feted at the event which will be graced by Amit Narang, the Indian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr Humaid al Amri, Chairman of Oman Society Film and Theater (OSFT), and Maryam al Zadjali, acclaimed painter and Director of the Omani Society for Fine Arts (OSFA), Lakshmi Kothaneth, renowned journalist and daughter of late Girija Baqer, and other dignitaries from both Oman and India.

“This stage play online contest is organised in honour of late Mrs Girija Backer who contributed immensely to the art scenario of Oman. We are glad to be honoring both Omani and Indian dramatistes on the same stage,” said Dr J Retnakumar, Founder & Chairman, Bhavalaya.

Best actor (both male and female), scriptwriter, best director, 3 best stage plays will be chosen and recognised.

“What makes it even more attractive is that winners are selected purely on the basis of their merits by an expert panel from School of Drama in Thrissur which has also evaluated all the nuances of each play,” adds Dr Retnakumar.

In addition to this 6 artists who have proved their multi talents in Oman (both Omani & Indian) will also be honoured with ‘Versatile Artiste’ awards.

Apart from these, the best drama chosen by the public through online voting on Bhavalaya YouTube Channel will be recognised on April 8, a week after the ceremony.
