MUSCAT: The visit of a commercial delegation, comprising 17 members of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to Colombo was fruitful, the Sri Lanka’s Daily News has described.
In a new report published on its website, it said that the delegation was headed by Engineer Redha Al Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is the sole representative of the entire private sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
The report added that the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Oman, Amir Ajwad, received the delegation at the headquarters of the Sri Lankan Businessmen Association in Sri Lanka and accompanied the delegation during its visit.

It also stated that the aim of the visit was to explore opportunities available in trade and investment between Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman, and to establish commercial links between the private sector in the two countries.
The report noted that the Omani delegation extended a courtesy invitation to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, briefed him on the progress made during his visit, and expressed its keen interest in the close economic partnership with Sri Lanka.
It also stated that the delegation also held fruitful meetings with Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Commerce Pandola Gunawardena, Minister of Labour Nimal Siripala de Silva, along with Minister of State for Promotion of Foreign Employment and Market Diversification Priyankara Jayaratne, as well as Minister of State for Regional Cooperation Tharaka Balsuriya.
It also added that during those meetings, a range of areas of common interest were discussed, including promoting trade, investment, tourism and job opportunities, pointing to the participation of the Sultanate of Oman’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Sheikh Juma bin Hamdan Al Shehhi in the meetings.
